Grading Scheme
Course Grading System
Learners’ performance is measured on a semester basis based on the grades they have obtained for every course enrolled in. The final grade of the course usually consists of the score of all examinations and activities taken during the semester. The following course grading system is applied throughout the College:

I - Incomplete
This grade is issued in rare cases for extenuating non-academic circumstances that prevent the learner from completing all course requirements on time. The incomplete course work must be completed by the end of the sub sequent regular semester; otherwise the Incomplete will be changed automatically to a grade of ‘F”.
IP - In Progress
This grade is issued when a course is currently taken by a learner.
R - Repeat
This grade is assigned to courses repeated by a learner due to unsatisfactory grades. When the learner has successfully repeated the course, an R replaces the unsatisfactory grade in that course for the semester where it was initially taken. The new grade is assigned for the retaking of the course in the semester when it was repeated successfully. The R is not included in the AGPA computation. When a learner repeats a course, the new grade assigned is substituted for the previous one in calculating the AGPA.
T – Transfer
This symbol is issued when credit has been taken at another institution and accepted as a transfer. Such grades are not computed in the GPA or AGPA.
W - Withdrawal
This grade is assigned to a learner who officially withdraws from a course before the deadline for the last day of withdrawal set in the academic calendar. Such grades are not included in the GPA and AGPA computation.
WF – (Withdrawal with Failure)
This grade is assigned to a learner who officially withdraws from a course after the deadline for the last day of withdrawal set in the academic calendar. The course must be successfully repeated before credit is awarded. A WF is included in the computation of both the GPA and AGPA.
WP (Withdrawal Passing)
A WP grade indicates that the learner was passing the course at the time of withdrawal. No credit is granted for such course and the grade is not included in the computation of both the GPA and AGPA. Permission is required from faculty member and the Office of Admission and Registration for such grades, failure to obtain this permission results in a WF for the course.
P - Pass
For courses that were satisfactory achieved but are not counted as a credit course (example: MAP, IEP)
N – No grade
Assigned temporarily for suspended grades
The Grade Point Average (GPA)
The score of all courses taken in a particular semester are computed to give an average of the semester.
The quality points earned in a course are calculated by multiplying the grade point value of the letter grade by the number of credits the course is worth.
The grade point average (GPA) is calculated by dividing the sum of the quality points of the courses taken by their total credits. The grade point average (GPA) is computed on a four-point scale.
The GPA of a semester is the measure of the learner's academic average during one semester and is calculated according to the following formulae:
The Accumulative Grade Point Average (AGPA)
The Accumulative GPA known as the AGPA is the measure of the learner's level of academic achievement in all semesters attended at the College and is calculated through the following formulae:

Grades corresponding to accumulative or semester grade point averages are determined as follows:
